In Delta Motion, the ceramic liner and Titanium shell are preassembled under precisely
controlled conditions, removing problems caused by improper liner seating associated
with intra-operative assembly. Both the Titanium shell and ceramic liner are significantly
thinner than those seen in traditional systems. The resulting flexibility of the
shell allows adaptability to the form of the ceramic liner taper, allowing improved
surface contact between the two components and ensuring optimal load transfer in
use.
DeltaMotion® utilises a well proven dual coating of Titanium porous plasma spray
plus Hydroxyapatite to gain cementless fixation in the acetabulum. This coating
provides optimal initial scratch-fit and maximises the surface area to allow for
osseointegration. To further improve the initial stability in the acetabulum, the
cups also feature three sets of anti-rotation fins equally spaced around the rim
of the shell.
